  Diesel
The family of a motorcyclist who died after skidding on a patch of diesel on a country road has been awarded £110,000 in compensation in one of the first claims of its kind in Britain. There was no way of finding out who was responsible for the spillage, but payment was awarded by the Motor Insurer’s Bureau.

Halcyon Days
At a CVAM Club Night a while back Eddy (CVAM Chairman) started off an open forum by asking those present to stand up and relate a biking "incident" they had experienced.
My contribution related to my early years experience of biking, as a passenger and pillion in and on my dad's sidecar combination, and one particular incident when going on a family holiday, and I do mean "family", i.e. Mum, Dad, Grandma, my brother, me and the dog. This is all in and on a BSA 500 with Watsonian sidecar, and trailer for the camping gear.
On our way down Hagley Hill, just to the west of Birmingham we were overtaken by a wheel, One of ours off the trailer. This was pursued down the hill by my Dad on foot, recovered and refitted to the trailer before our long journey to Pembrokeshire continued.
Maria asked how we managed to fit everyone in. She is somewhat younger than me, so I explained that sidecars were of a different design in those days. To help her and you understand, I have found a photo of the set up. This is Circa 1954. Would they allow a Reg.No. like that these days. My Dad also had a 125cc Francis Barnett for commuting and most of my pillion experience was on this.

Those were the days..........
